Schmidt Associates, an Indianapolis-based architecture and engineering firm, has welcomed the team at Arrasmith in Louisville, Kentucky, into the firm.

Arrasmith’s experience in healthcare, including university lab, hospital and medical research facility design, will support the joined firm’s Healthcare Studio.

The joining is a result of both firms’ commitment to servant leadership and client success. Integrating the two will create an enhanced level of expertise, capacity and service across a larger geographic area.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the Arrasmith team into the Schmidt Associates family,” said Sarah Hempstead, Principal and CEO of Schmidt Associates, in a statement. “With this integration comes tremendous opportunity for growth and new pursuits that will benefit our clients and the communities in which we build.”

Schmidt Associates has a longstanding history in Indiana. Opening its doors in 1976, the firm moved to its current location on Massachusetts Avenue in downtown Indianapolis in the early 1980s.

Arrasmith, also known as AJRC, has a legacy starting in 1926 in Louisville. Over more than 90 years, the firm has served clients through architecture and planning in 28 states and seven countries.

The combined firm now totals approximately 110 employees across architecture, engineering, interior design, construction administration, and administrative functions. Both the Indianapolis and Louisville offices will remain in their current locations.
