The Association of Industrial Real Estate (AIRE) and the Chicago chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) will come together May 24 to host a joint luncheon program, “The Economic Outlook and Monetary Policy.”
Presented by David Oppedahl, economic research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, the event will take place at Gene & Georgetti’s, 9421 W. Higgins Rd., with registration beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Oppedahl has spoken at commercial real estate industry events in the past and next Tuesday, he will touch on the questions he is frequently asked about–interest rate expectations and monetary policy’s influence on them.
Real estate can still play a key role in helping economic growth pick up, according to Oppedahl.
Mike Prost, AIRE President and a senior managing director at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, said that role is perhaps best demonstrated in Chicago by the steady decline in industrial vacancies and the ongoing development of speculative and build-to-suit projects across the metropolitan area.
With memberships that account for the vast majority of industrial real estate professionals in Chicago, AIRE and SIOR regularly host a combined luncheon bringing together speakers that impact the industrial marketplace. Two years ago, the luncheon program featured then candidate Bruce Rauner.
