Steve Bessenbacher recently joined Kansas City’s Block Real Estate Services, LLC as vice president of healthcare development.
Bessenbacher’s relationships in the local healthcare community began in 1996 with the former Health Midwest Health System. In 2003, he left Health Midwest after being one of the lead administrators in creating The Cancer Institute, a joint venture hospital between Health Midwest and St. Luke’s Health System. He spent three years with Minneapolis-based Center for Diagnostic Imaging establishing and leading the Kansas City market, including the creation of multiple joint venture partnerships with local health systems.
In 2007, Bessenbacher took the lead in establishing the Kansas City office for Des Moines-based LADCO Development. In his time with LADCO, the Kansas City office developed multiple ground-up developments both in and out of the healthcare arena. Since 2008, the Kansas City office has developed more than $45 million in ground-up developments.
The most recent project Bessenbacher developed is the new home of Encompass Medical Groups’ Hickman Mills Clinic, which will open Nov. 21. Other tenants in this project will include Carondelet Health System and Albers Medical Pharmacy.
