Industry veteran takes leadership role in Minneapolis office of Transwestern

Mike Salmen

Transwestern Real Estate Services has charged industry veteran Mike Salmen with service delivery strategy and operational oversight of the firm’s Midwest Capital Markets team.

As managing principal based in Minneapolis, Salmen has been integrally involved in the growth of all Transwestern service lines, and he will bring this expertise to his new position, working with city leaders and capital markets experts in the Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee, Minneapolis and St. Louis markets as well as nationally.

With decades of capital markets and asset advisory experience, the Midwest team takes a consulting-focused approach, supporting clients before the disposition stage with guidance on short- and long-term asset plans, highest and best-use analysis and structured finance solutions.

Transwestern’s size, structure and service mentality fosters engagement with disciplines across the family of companies – expertise that spans real estate services, development, investment management, and hospitality – to create customized solutions for both private investors and institutional clients.

Salmen, who has been with Transwestern and its predecessor since 1996, brings more than 35 years of experience in commercial real estate to his new position. He has worked in both investment sales and leasing and has developed relationships locally, regionally and nationally.

A member of Transwestern’s Board of Directors, Salmen holds a degree in accounting from the University of St. Thomas and an MBA in finance from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. He has received numerous industry awards, has served on multiple boards, and remains active in several charitable initiatives.
