CA Ventures (“CA”), the vertically integrated real estate investment management company, has announced the formation of CA Capital Advisory — a division dedicated to driving capital markets, equity raise and product design strategy for the entire global enterprise. John Wright, Tom Dreyer, Michael Frenz and Anthony Porcelli, four seasoned industry experts, have joined the firm to serve as the leadership team for the business unit.
John Wright, principal and co-head of CA Capital Advisory, joins the company from Kayne Anderson Capital. Having served as senior managing director for Kayne Anderson for more than eleven years, in addition to holding leadership roles at Saybrook Capital, Taylor Investment Advisors, Zweig-Dimenna and Credit Suisse, Wright brings more than twenty-five years of fund management experience and a broad network of capital relationships.
Wright added, “CA operates in all of the right spaces, as demonstrated by the company’s strong performance amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which only underscores the continued strength of investor appetite for our products. CA Capital Advisory provides a unique opportunity for the company to advance its investment offerings and continue to scale its platform. I am excited to be part of the core team that will be designing products and services directly responding to the needs of our institutional investment audiences.”
Leveraging over three decades of experience in private equity, Tom Dreyer will be principal and co-head of CA Capital Advisory alongside Wright and Dreyer will be focused on alternative investments and capital raise strategy.
Michael Frenz joins CA Capital Advisory as chief financial officer and will be responsible for overseeing the division’s capital markets and governance functions, in addition to managing firm-wide debt relationships. Frenz will serve as a thought leader across the platform, leveraging his most recent role as chief financial officer of Clipper Realty Inc., a publicly traded real estate investment trust, and eighteen years of investment banking and private equity experience advising executives and Board members on strategic and financial transactions.
Additionally, Anthony Porcelli joins the practice as executive vice president and general counsel, where he will oversee compliance and risk for CA’s growing investment platform. Porcelli brings more than twenty-seven years of legal experience to CA Capital Advisory, and previously served as a shareholder at Polsinelli and partner with Jenner & Block.
CA Capital Advisory will comprise CA’s capital markets and governance, strategy and communications, and equity and structuring teams, and will further streamline the company’s comprehensive in-house investment, development and operational services across the student living, senior living, multifamily, industrial, medical office and life sciences asset classes. The formation of CA Capital Advisory and the new leadership team to oversee the division will ensure an increasingly comprehensive and sophisticated offering for clients across both equity and debt services.
