Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient

James McShane

James (“Jim”) McShane is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The McShane Companies, an integrated real estate development and construction firm that he established in 1984.
Over the course of the company’s history, Jim’s leadership, creativity and intuitive knowledge of development and design/build construction propelled the McShane organization to achieve recognition and success on a local, regional and national basis. Headquartered in Rosemont, Illinois, the firm currently operates offices in Auburn, Alabama; Irvine, California; Phoenix, Arizona; and Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, Texas.
Jim’s commitment to delivering successful development and construction projects has resulted in the industry’s recognition of his professional achievements. He is a past recipient of the ULI Lifetime Achievement Award, NAIOP Award of Excellence, SIOR’s President’s Award, Charter Member of the Midwest Real Estate Hall of Fame, Professional Achievement Award from Marquette University and the Professional Achievement Award from the American Jewish Committee.
He currently serves as Chairman of the Planning Commission for the Village of Bannockburn, Advisory Board member for Marquette’s Center for Real Estate, and is an active member of AIRE, Builders Association, CBC, NAIOP, SIOR, ULI and USGBC. Furthermore, Jim is currently the Vice-Chairman of Concern Worldwide U.S., a global humanitarian organization that helps those living in the world’s poorest countries to achieve lasting improvements in their quality of life. Previously, Jim was President of the Chicago Building Congress, Chair of the Triangle Fraternity Education Foundation, a board member of the Builder’s Association for six years and a Charter Member of the Builder’s Foundation.
Jim earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Marquette University and is a registered professional engineer in Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
