J.C. Anderson has completed a 47,073-square-foot build-out for Elkay’s new plumbing business headquarters at 1333 Butterfield Road in Downers Grove, Illinois. The company’s corporate headquarters is on track to move to the same location later this year.
Founded in 1920, Elkay is a manufacturer of residential sinks and faucets, commercial water delivery systems and custom-branded retail, hospitality and restaurant interiors. Relocating from Oak Brook, Illinois, the family-owned firm selected J.C. Anderson to complete the renovation. The construction team for J.C. Anderson was led by project executive Seth Erlich, project manager Andrew Mott and superintendent Jose Verduzco. Whitney provided the architectural services.
“We had a lot of new elements packed into a challenging timeline,” said Erlich. “With great team effort and careful coordination, however, we were able to stick to our tight deadline and provide our client with a new, efficient space that the firm was searching for while also bringing in features that fit Elkay’s brand and story.”
The two-floor project was completed on a tight deadline and consisted of building out the space to create a reception area and showroom featuring various Elkay products. The new space features a large waterfall feature made out of stainless steel cutouts from Elkay’s sinks as well as high-end finishes throughout.
“We want to create an inspiring space for our market-facing teams that is fresh and new—with a contemporary vibe that aligns with our brand. Our teams can thrive in the bright, open collaborative environment we’ve created—a workplace that our people will enjoy, and candidates and clients alike will be drawn to,” said Ted Hamilton, president, Elkay Plumbing, when his firm leased the space last summer. “For us, it’s a very important step to take for recruitment and employee retention.”
