Capital Commercial Investments, Inc. announced JCPenney’s recent lease at 6501 Legacy, or CALWest. One of the largest leases this year, JCPenney expects to move into its 318,067 square-foot space in late Fall 2022. The lease will trigger significant amenity activation in and around the project.
Located in the heart of Legacy West in Plano, the three-story Class-A office building encompasses over 1.8 million square feet on 86 acres and offers world-class amenities including a full-service fitness club, conference center, Bright Horizons childcare, food court and dining hall, grab-and-go pantry, and coffee shop. JCPenney’s decision follows recent lease announcements by the Miyako Hybrid Hotel and Bruce Glasscock Plano City Park. Additional outdoor amenities will likely include fire pits, walking trails, pickle-ball and access to a variety of lake-front food and beverage options. The site also includes 42 acres of undeveloped land for future multi-family and/or office use.
CCI acquired the CALWest campus in late 2021, with the ultimate vision of transforming the former single-tenant corporate headquarters facility into a multi-tenant campus. This sizable, long-term lease is the second anchor tenant at CALWest and brings the building’s occupancy to 40%.
Michael Brigance and Teddy Childers with CCI represented the landlord on this transaction. The remaining space is being marketed by T.D. Briggs, Chris Wright, Blake Shipley and Ashley Curry with JLL.
