Jean Kane

Jean Kane President and chief operating officer Welsh & Colliers International — Minneapolis|St. Paul Minnetonka, Minn.

Jean Kane made history by serving on the NAIOP’s National Executive Committee as its vice chair for education. Kane was the first woman to serve on this committee.

Making history, though, is nothing unusual for Kane, who’s been doing this for her entire career. In an industry still dominated largely by men, Kane has risen to one of the most powerful positions in the Twin Cities’ real estate industry.

As president and chief operating officer of Welsh & Colliers International — Minneapolis|St. Paul, Kane makes an impact on the real estate landscape of the Twin Cities every day. She also ranks as one of the most important real estate professionals in the Midwest, helping to close several significant real estate transactions every year in the Minneapolis/St. Paul region.

Fortunately, Kane knows her market, and she’s a hard worker. She’s also experienced in the ways of the commercial real estate market. She brings more than 26 years worth of experience to her current position. And this experience has paid off. As an industry veteran, Kane has worked through markets both solid and struggling. She knows how to succeed when economic times are challenging. And she’s passed this knowledge on to the younger agents at Welsh. It’s resulted in solid years for this company, even in a down economic time.

Kane’s impact has been felt keenly at Welsh. As the company’s president and chief operating officer, she oversees the operations of Welsh’s entire Real Esate Services Group, including its brokerage, real estate management, construction, architecture, financing and facility maintenance services.

It’s a big job: Founded in 1977, Welsh employes more than 300 real estate professionals. It remains one of the largest real estate brokerages in the Midwest.

Industry analysts have taken note of Kane’s accomplishments. Twin Cities Business Magazine, for example, recently named Kane among its 200 Minnesotans You should Know.
