As part of JLL‘s second annual service day held earlier this summer, the firm previously shared that 250 employees got to spend an afternoon getting their hands dirty by improving Brighton Park Elementary School in southwest Chicago.
JLL volunteers were asked to create a bright and engaging learning environment for the students and with that goal in mind, the group painted classrooms, hallways and stairwells, built planter boxes and bookshelves and created artistic murals and tile mosaics, among other projects. Additionally, JLL employees raised more than $1,300 to help the school build a dance studio for students.
“It was truly remarkable to watch the school transform over the course of just a few hours,” Senior Marketing Manager Meredith McNally, who organized the Service Day outing, said. “Not only did it feel good to know we were making a positive impact on the Brighton Park neighborhood, but it also made me very proud to work for an organization that prioritizes community involvement.”
Through these improvements, the school will be able to expand activities they can offer students, boost school pride and promote Brighton Park as an ideal place for children to start their pursuit of lifelong learning.
