John Godwin Vice President Investments Senior Director, National Office and Industrial Properties Group (NOIPG) Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services Detroit
It hasn’t taken John Godwin long to make an impact at Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services. Since joining the company in the spring of 2000, Godwin has steadily acquired more responsibilities and more important titles.
Today, Godwin serves a key role with Marcus & Millichap, working out of the company’s Detroit office as a vice president of investments and senior director of the firm’s National Office and Industrial Properties Group.
Godwin’s rise isn’t unexpected. His peers say that he’s been a pioneering agent in Marcus & Millichap’s Detroit office, displaying the kind of leadership that can help a company work through even the most challenging of commercial real estate markets.
His peers also credit Godwin with taking time out of his schedule to mentor his fellow agents with Marcus & Millichap. In fact, many of the company’s most successful mortgage pros can look back at the mentoring they received from Godwin as one of the reasons for their own thriving careers.
“John is always open to helping other agents reach their personal bests,” said one nominator.
Godwin’s efforts have earned him several key awards from Marcus & Millichap. He has won six national achievement and nine sales recognition awards since joining the company.
Again, the awards are no surprise. Just look at the strength of Godwin’s numbers: During his career with Marcus & Millichap, Godwin has participated in transactions totaling more than $750 million. He has also been involved in selling more than 7 million square feet of office, industrial, high-tech, retail and multi-family properties throughout the greater Michigan and Midwest marketplaces.
Results like this will bring steady advancement throughout a company. And these numbers clarify just why Godwin has become such a valued member of the Marcus & Millichap team.
Outside of his duties with Marcus & Millichap, Godwin has also had a positive impact on the commercial real estate business in the Detroit area by both founding and publishing The Direct Source (Black’s Guide), an office leasing guide covering metropolitan Detroit.
