8000 North LLC announced a partnership with Murphy Development Group, a division of Murphy Real Estate Services, specifically for the ownership and development of 8000 North, a residential tower with luxury apartments, retail and private/public parking at the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Oakton Street in downtown Skokie, Illinois.
Scheduled to be completed in late 2021, the village of Skokie is also partnering in the project, for what will be the village’s first new rental apartment development in decades. The $68 million mixed-use development, designed by architect Lucien Lagrange, will be a 12-story tower with 153 luxury rental residences.
“Bringing Murphy Development into the project is a natural progression, as they will provide a depth of experience and resources to deliver high-quality luxury living and shopping to Chicago’s greater north shore area,” states Norm Hassinger, representative for 8000 North LLC. “With their financial commitment in place, it will ensure the successful completion of the project.”
The development will include a 265-space parking garage, which is currently underway and scheduled for completion by fall 2020. The parking facility will offer free public parking for 73 vehicles and private parking for 192 residents’ vehicles. Additionally, the project will include 15,000 square feet of ground floor retail space.
Murphy Development Group recently completed The Paragon, a 500-unit luxury apartment tower at 1326 S. Michigan Avenue. The firm’s chairman and CEO, John T. Murphy, also developed the award-winning project Lincoln Park 2550, located at 2550 N. Lakeview in Chicago, and worked with Lucien Lagrange who was the design architect for Lincoln Park 2550.
“We are fully engaged with all parties in the programming and progression of the development. Beyond the exceptional location and attributes of the project, we are confident the development will stand as a great example of how public private partnerships can successfully work together,” said Murphy.
