JRI Interior Design in Lincolnshire, Ill., recently completed a facelift to the Independent Living apartments at Highland Oaks in Elgin, Ill., a not-for-profit senior care and retirement community owned by Apostolic Christian Church of Elgin.
JRI was hired to upgrade and enhance the corridors and common spaces to provide interest and warmth. The entry to each apartment was improved by adding wood trim, elegant signage and stylish sconces. Additional design features to enhance the quality of life of residents include new artwork, lighting and floor coverings.
Also, the furnishings were replaced in the lounge areas to add comfort, and new window treatments were added to control glare. JRI also increased the storage in the dining room to provide better organization and an improved buffet area that will now accommodate a greater number of residents in the dining space.
JRI will begin work soon on the next phase of renovation at Highland Oaks, which includes the lobby and common corridors of the skilled-care community.
