Kansas-based Olsson names senior director of operations

Sterling Cramer has been promoted to senior director of operations for Overland Park, Kansas-based Olsson, an engineering and design firm that serves clients throughout the United States.

Cramer was previously leader of the firm’s region that covers offices in Kansas, Iowa, Missouri and Arkansas.

Replacing Cramer as regional leader is Ron Mersch, who since 2012 has been the firm’s office leader in Springfield, Missouri.

In his new role, Cramer will manage and analyze the firm’s operations and performance metrics. He will consult with members of the firm’s leadership teams to ensure Olsson is on track to meet its operational and team goals, strategies and priorities.

Cramer joined Olsson in 1999 as a project engineer. He served in numerous leadership roles throughout the region before he was named regional leader in 2016. As senior director of operations, his talents will now be used across the entire firm.

Cramer will continue to work out of Olsson’s Overland Park office.

Mersch began his duties as regional leader Jan. 1. As office leader in Springfield, Mersch oversaw substantial growth throughout southern Missouri, Arkansas and southeast Kansas while growing the offices and expanding capabilities to better serve Olsson’s roster of clients.

Prior to joining Olsson, Mersch spent six years as the city administrator and lead economic developer for the city of Bolivar, Missouri. Before that, he held a similar position for the city of Willow Springs, Missouri.
