Shawnee, Kan.-based Straub Construction Company received two Capstone Awards from the Kansas City Business Journal in early May. The company received these awards for the work it turned in during the historic renovations of the Entertainment Properties Trust commercial space and Clyde Manor apartments.
Clyde Manor Apartments offers 115 units in a 1920s building, renovated to create market-rate apartments in the Hyde Park area of Midtown, Mo. Its grand lobby has been restored to its original luster.
Entertainment Properties Trust is located in an historic 909 Walnut building in Kansas City, Mo., and was completed in just 11 weeks. The second floor, mezzanine and third-floor levels were transformed from outdated, open areas into 31,000 square feet of modern, upscale office space.
The overall goal was to keep the original 1930 features intact, yet make it “21st Century” through innovative design, a state-of-the-art sound system and acoustics, cascading water feature, dramatic lighting, glass and natural stone.
