Thompson Coburn announced that Katriina McGuire has joined the firm as a partner in its Chicago office. She joins from Schain Banks Kenny & Schwartz Ltd.
McGuire focuses her practice in the areas of land use, zoning, and developer incentives. She represents property owners and developers before the City of Chicago and suburban plan commissions, economic development committees, zoning boards of appeals and village boards in all matters related to land use and zoning. She has successfully represented clients in various zoning matters including planned developments, zoning amendments, special uses, variations and subdivision issues.
McGuire is experienced in negotiating development agreements related to TIF, property tax incentives, special service areas, special assessments, right-of-way agreements, utility services, and negotiated land sales. She has served as counsel for municipalities, developers and underwriters related to TIF, SSA and special assessment and alternate revenue source bond financing transactions. She has also represented clients in the circuit and appellate courts of Illinois regarding land use disputes as well as general commercial matters.
