Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and Ryan Companies US, Inc. held a kids’ handprint ceremony on June 24 at the site of the future Children’s Hospital’s Delafield Clinic in Delafield, Wis., to demonstrate a continuing commitment to provide care closer to home for the children and families it serves and to commemorate ongoing construction of the clinic.
Children and adolescents from the Waukesha area who are patients of Children’s Hospital donned hard hats and placed handprints in concrete that will be installed outside the new clinic which is scheduled to open in late 2014. Joining the children at the ceremony were Peggy Troy, CEO, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin; Tom Sato, CEO, Children’s Specialty Group, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin; Delafield Mayor Michele DeYoe; and Ryan Marks, Managing Director, Ryan Companies.
“We’re particularly excited of the sports medicine services we will be offering here,” said Dr. Sato. “The building will feature a two-story gym for young athletes who are trying to get back on the field or court – as well as a hydrotherapy pool for additional physical and sports medicine therapies. “
Construction of the two-story, 30,000-square-foot building, which sits on a 5.1-acre site located at 3195 Hillside Drive in Delafield, began in April and will continue over the course of the summer. At the time of the ceremonial handprint event, Ryan had nearly completed the erection of steel on the site and was preparing for the installation of the roof. Ryan is providing development, design-build construction and real estate management services for the project.
