Kraus-Anderson Construction has completed a $27.4 million indoor activity center for Orono Public Schools. Located at 795 North Old Crystal Bay Road in Long Lake, Minnesota, the Orono Activity Center will provide a 96,296-square-foot recreation center with new indoor facilities and athletic fields for the greater community.
Adjoining Orono High School, the indoor center provides new flexible learning spaces for students, additional seating in the high school’s main gymnasium, and recreational and wellness spaces for athletes of all ages.
Designed by Wold Architects, the center’s fieldhouse features five multipurpose courts that can be used to accommodate basketball, volleyball, pickleball, tennis, baseball and softball, and can be set up to include golf cages and an indoor long jump pit, along with turf storage for roll out turf to cover portions of the floor.
The three-story building also features a 3,400-square-foot weight room and training facility and 2,000-square-foot cardio room, a running track that extends around the five courts, an elevated 9-foot-wide walking track, locker rooms and concessions.
