Kraus-Anderson has completed construction on Moment, a $66 million, 222-unit high-rise apartment tower developed by Sherman Associates. Designed by ESG Architecture & Design, the 292,448-square-foot multi-family housing project is located at 650 Portland Ave. in downtown Minneapolis.
The second floor of the 10-story building is home to Firefighters For Healing and its Transitional Healing Center for injured fighters and burn survivors. The Healing Center provides 12 suites for families close to Hennepin Healthcare where a family member is receiving care at its burn center. It also accommodates discharged patients as they transition before returning home.
Moment features apartment homes with smart home technology and amenities, including pool, sauna, hot tub, sports simulator, work-from-home space, rooftop lounge and underground parking. Additionally, energy usage for Moment is offset by energy production from a solar garden in Carver County. Moment also includes nearly 15,000 square feet of commercial space with skyway access. A Starbucks store is expected to open in Spring 2023.
For more than five years, Kraus-Anderson has been a part of a collaborative effort to bring key businesses together to create an affordable solution that can support families of those undergoing treatment at the nearby Hennepin Healthcare Burn Unit, a regional center for burn treatment. All parties involved in the development were motivated by the positive community impact provided by the efforts of FF4H.
Construction began in May of 2021.
