Designed by JLG Architects, the $83 million Watford City Event Center will feature a competition swimming pool and waterpark; 22,000-square-foot multi-use field house with three basketball courts; 1,000-seat hockey arena and separate practice hockey rink; 3,000-seat arena for sporting events and concerts; 12,000-square-foot gymnastics club; and 10,000 square feet of convention space. The project also will include parking lots, conference rooms and administrative offices. Construction is expected to be completed in late 2016.
Fundraising is underway for additional facilities surrounding the Event Center. Tentative plans include a new, artificial turf football field/stadium and track, artificial turf baseball and softball field, and tennis courts.
