Kraus-Anderson has begun demolition to redevelop the former Capitol Professional Office Building at 590 Park St. in Saint Paul, Minnesota, into an upscale 92-unit apartment building.
Encircled by Regions Hospital and the State Capitol, the 590 Park Street project is in the Capitol Heights Neighborhood, one of the densest areas of St. Paul. In addition to its significant neighboring tenants, the site offers close proximity to the Green Line transit stop Capitol/Rice St. Station.
The project creates new housing options in an area with significant employment opportunities in the nearby government buildings, hospitals and related services. The project is expected to be completed in July of 2020.
Designed by UrbanWorks Architecture, the 590 Park project will offer smaller-sized micro, micro-medium, alcove and one-bedroom units. The building will include amenities such as a lobby lounge and game room, outdoor patio with grilling stations, dog run, fitness center and a private club room and kitchen. Units will feature full-size washer and dryer, solid surface countertops, LVT flooring, stainless steel appliances and smart thermostats.
The adjacent parking structure will also be renovated as part of the project. The ramp has one level of connected underground parking dedicated to residents in the apartment building with an additional three levels of parking above ground for public and contract parking.
