Kraus-Anderson completed construction on three Marshall County Central school buildings in Newfolden and Viking in northwestern Minn.
A grand opening ceremony will be held Aug. 28 in the new gymnasium on the north side of the high school building.
On August 9, 2022, the Marshall County Central community voted and passed a $18.9 million building referendum to add needed space to support students and programs.
Marshall County Central High School (Grades 5-12 for the upcoming school year)
The 93,559-square-foot project features five new classrooms, cafeteria, commons, secondary gym, weight room, support spaces and bus loop. Construction was completed in time for classes to begin in the fall of 2024.
Newfolden Elementary (Grades 2-4for the upcoming school year)
The building received a new library, music room, outdoor basketball court and staff/visitor parking lot. Construction was completed in the summer of 2023 and indoor remodeling was completed in the summer of 2024.
Viking Elementary (Grades pre-K to grade 1for the upcoming school year)
The 17,842-square-foot project includes a new secure entrance, front office, music room, kitchen office and storage. Remodeling and realigning created a school nurse office, library, larger staff lunch room and additional space for preschool. Preschool and Head Start will expand to four-day-a-week programming. Construction of the new space was completed in January 2024 and additional remodeling was completed in the summer of 2024.
