Krusinski Construction Company has completed a 250,000-square-foot expansion for Ferrara Candy Company in Bolingbrook, Illinois, adjacent to the firm’s existing 750,000-square-foot distribution facility.
Ferrara Candy liked the site because of its flexibility to expand the building to just more than 1 million square feet. Using all the remaining land on the property, 62 new dock positions and two new drive-in doors were created. Krusinski also saw-cut three new openings into the existing façade to tie the expansion into the existing building. Along with this addition came a new electrical service and emergency generator.
The building owner, Heitman, was represented by Cushman & Wakefield and the tenant, Ferrara Candy, was represented by CBRE. Harris Architects provided the design for the project and Pearson Brown & Associates assisted as the civil engineers.
