Land sales specialists Alex Makris and Jeff Pittman join NAI Partners

Veteran land sales brokers Alex Makris and Jeff Pittman have joined NAI Partners in Houston as senior vice presidents.

“Alex and Jeff are among the best-known and most highly regarded land brokers in Texas—boasting more than 45 years of combined industry experience—and we’re looking forward to not only adding their expertise, knowledge and relationships to our firm, but also being able to provide our Texas clients with dedicated Land Sales specialists,” said Jon Silberman, managing partner of NAI Partners. “Adding Land Sales to our full-service suite of offerings has been a key component of our overall diversification and growth strategy, and we’re excited to further enhance the breadth and depth of solutions we can provide to our clients.”

“While we knew all about the company’s external accomplishments, what really drew us to NAI Partners were the intangibles, like the robust partner-owned company culture where the mission, vision, values are crystal clear and everyone understands the importance of working together in service of collectively achieving the company’s goals and how that ultimately benefits every single person in the firm,” said Makris.

“Not to mention a support philosophy underpinned by the belief that brokers should focus on what brokers do best—closing deals—and ensuring that the support services staff is comprised of the very best talent available,” said Pittman. “There’s a reason why NAI Partners continues to win more business than its competitors and routinely appears on fastest-growing and best-of lists, and we’re excited to contribute to the company’s secret sauce for success.”

Most recently, Makris and Pittman were responsible for putting together the 521-acre Beacon Hill project in Waller, Texas. The duo represented the land owner, selling the land to David S. Wolff Company.

Makris started his career with Trammell Crow Company in 2001 and migrated to CBRE via the CBRE-Trammell Crow merger in 2007. He started in Trammell Crow’s retail division in retail project leasing and moved toward land sales and acquisitions over the years. Makris has worked with investors and developers such as Trammell Crow Company, KB Homes, David S. Wolff Co., The Finger Companies, D.R. Horton, David Weekley Homes, HEB Stores and Long Lake Development.

Pittman was also previously a vice president at CBRE, providing real estate services to his clients for the past 25 years. Pittman’s primary focus is land and building acquisitions and dispositions for investors, residential developers, investors, and industrial users. Pittman has represented clients in the purchase and sale of land and other commercial properties with an estimated value of over $900 million. Pittman has worked with a variety of companies including McAlister Assets, DR Horton, Georgia Pacific, Ash Grove and Walmart Stores. In addition, he has assisted one of the world’s largest retail companies in the site selection and acquisition of land for the development of over 30 retail stores in Southeast Texas.

“As we continue to see many of our competitors sitting on the sidelines, NAI Partners has remained laser-focused on taking an aggressive approach when it comes to adding high-end talent, intent on further expanding the elite level of service delivery we provide for our clients across all of our service lines and geographies,” said Travis Rodgers, executive vice president, NAI Partners.
