What will happen to the Metcalf South and 95 West shopping centers in Overland Park, Kansas? Developer LANE4 Property Group is turning to the public for answers to that question.
LANE4 Property Group will host two public meetings this month to gather comments and suggestions from the community regarding the future of the shopping centers, which LANE4, with partner The Kroenke Group, purchased earlier this year.
“It’s an important intersection in the heart of Overland Park, and it’s important to us to get it right,” said Owen Buckley, president and founder of LANE4, in a written statement. “We want to hear what the community would like to see, and then do our best to deliver a project that immediately boosts the surrounding area and stands the test of time.”
The meetings will be held at the Matt Ross Community Center in Overland Park April 24 at 7 p.m. and April 29, also at 7 p.m. The meetings are open to the public and are expected to last about 90 minutes. The Matt Ross Community Center is located at 8101 Marty St. in Overland Park.
Individuals who cannot attend the meetings but would like to provide input may go to www.theNEWmetcalf.com, and submit their comments electronically. The site will be live and available for comments starting April 9.
DLR Group, an architecture firm based in Overland Park, has been selected to design the project. Both properties, located at the intersection of 95th Street and Metcalf Aveune, were purchased from Mission, Kansas-based MD Management.
The site includes a former Kmart building and a still-operating Red Lobster and Olive Garden restaurant properties. The property also includes the Metcalf South Mall and a recently closed Macy’s building.
