Lawrence Group completed Austin Regional Clinic’s (ARC) new free-standing specialty clinic, ARC South Specialty, which officially opened on June 1 at 708 West Ben White Blvd. in Austin, Texas.

The 63,000-square-foot, two-level facility was designed by Lawrence Group to accommodate a comprehensive selection of specialty, primary and surgical care services (dermatology, medical aesthetics, neurology, podiatry, rheumatology/infusion therapy, allergy and asthma, audiology, cardiology, ENT, general surgery, orthopedics, and sports + musculoskeletal medicine) at one campus location.

The first floor includes 45 exam rooms and six treatment rooms, with the second level featuring 68 exam rooms and four treatment rooms. Lab and radiology services, plus cardiology labs, are also included at the new clinic, plus space for ARC’s second outpatient surgery center, ARC Surgery Center South, which is expected to open this summer.

ARC South Specialty is ARC’s 37th clinic in Central Texas, joining ARC Greenlawn Specialty, which opened in Round Rock in January. ARC’s first outpatient surgery center, ARC Surgery Center North, will soon open at ARC Greenlawn Specialty.

Lawrence Group started the project in June 2024 by performing a detailed feasibility study of existing buildings on the site and assessing the area for programmatic and infrastructural conditions. The study informed ARC administrators to opt for a new building, bypassing a costly adaptive reuse option.

The facility’s patient-centered design incorporates locally sourced materials, such as the use of limestone veneer with dark metal panels to reflect ARC’s community-focused values, plus wood panels throughout the interior that provide a welcoming ambiance for patients and staff alike.

The project is also designed with the goal of achieving an Austin Energy Green Building (AEGB) 3 Stars rating through its use of sustainable materials, energy efficient systems, and natural daylighting throughout.

The general contractor on the project was Rogers-O’Brien Construction.
