Lee & Associates has negotiated a $9.16 million sale involving a former Gold’s Gym facility in Gurnee.
Rick Scardino, director of retail brokerage of Lee’s Chicago office, represented Gold’s Gym owner Dick Glass who operated the 71,825-square-foot franchised facility located at 1655 Nations Drive in Gurnee.
The Gurnee Park District purchased the property with the plans to upgrade the space for their own community based fitness operation. Renovation plans included new cardio equipment, thorough cleaning and painting of the space, rebuilt saunas and steam rooms, upgrades to exercise studios and repurposing of retail space for expanded recreational programming. The district opened its doors as FitNation on Nov. 6.
“FitNation is a wonderful compliment to one of the Illinois’ finest park districts,” Scardino said. “It offers an indoor swimming facility, an amenity the district was unable to offer to its residents until now and fulfills much needed additional space for recreational programming demands.”
