Lee & Associates of Illinois’ Jay Farnam raises $20,000 for the National MS Society – Greater Illinois Chapter

This year’s 7th Annual BFMS (Barry Farnam Multiple Sclerosis) Charity Golf Classic, hosted by The Velija Corporation Sept. 18 at the Hilton Indian Lakes Resort in Bloomingdale, turned out to be its most successful fundraising event in its history.

The event was created in 2009 as a family and friends event on behalf of its namesake, Barry Farnam, the father of one of Lee & Associates‘ Jay Farnam. Barry was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis over thirty years ago, but in the last ten years the disease has greatly impacted his and his family’s life. Jay and his wife, Heather, started the Velija Corporation as a vehicle to continue raising money for those suffering from this debilitating disease.

This year’s event had more than 100 attendees. The sponsorships came from across the country to support a great cause.

Lee & Associates sponsored a portion of the event. Just this past month, Jay was able to deliver a $20,000 check to the National MS Society – Greater Illinois Chapter (pictured to the left). This money will be used in research as well as direct assistance and programs.

Jay is quick to note, that this annual event is open to the public and is optimistic of the continued success and outpouring of generous donations to help find a cure for MS.

“As a small charitable organization, my wife and I are always looking for others to join our board to bring in new ideas and reach new people,” he said. “We are very proud of the work we have done so far and owe it all to our participants and sponsors. We see many of the same faces every year, and I think that is a testament to a good time had by all while benefiting a great cause.”
