Leopardo Companies, Inc. completed the new Jerri Hoffmann Child + Family Center. The project was completed for Illinois-based non-profit Children’s Home + Aid, a leading child and family service agency in Illinois that provides support and programs for families in need.
The development of the 7-acre site located at 229 Lake Marian Rd. in Carpentersville included a 27,000-square-foot facility, which consists of 15 classrooms, a gross motor room, associated administrative and support spaces, full-service kitchen, laundry room, as well as an extensive outdoor play area for the students.
The new Jerri Hoffman Child + Family Center replaced the Tom Thumb Community Childcare Center, but continues to serve at-risk children and families as it has since 1970. With the completion of the new center, occupancy has been expanded from 110 to 230 students.
Sustainability was a key component guiding the project, which is seeking LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
Leopardo served as general contractor in collaboration with architecture firm Designhaus, Inc. and owner’s representative IFF.
