Leopardo Companies, Inc. is building 310,000 square feet of high-tech office interior space for GrubHub, VelocityEHS and STATS.
The work includes four of the most significant interior construction projects currently being built for technology firms in Chicago, a city that has established itself as home to one of the nation’s top tech scenes.
Leopardo is completing a 140,000-square-foot phased renovation and expansion of GrubHub‘s national headquarters at 111 W. Washington St., in the Burnham Center. The online restaurant ordering and delivery service recently stretched its lease by 79 percent and now occupies six floors. The project will also consist of a floor restack. Phase one will begin in March and conclude in May, with phase two scheduled to begin later in the year.
Leopardo is also building out 90,000 square feet on the 17thfloor of the Merchandise Mart for software firm VelocityEHS, formerly MSDSonline. In advance of the arrival of VelocityEHS, Leopardo was retained by Motorola Mobility to prepare the sublease space for the new tenant.
The firm also announced that it will build out 80,000 square feet at 203 N. LaSalle St. for sports data and technology firm STATS, which is moving downtown from the suburbs. The project will encompass two floors and include the addition of a patio. Work is expected to start in April and be complete by August.
In 2014, Leopardo completed build-outs for Twitter, Signal, Zirmed and online ticket vendor Vivid Seats at 111 N. Canal St. Other recent projects include Mattersight’s headquarters, the award-winning Context Media headquarters, as well as a 300,000-square-foot renovation for Zebra Technologies at its Lincolnshire headquarters.
