It’s a big deal for this Chicago suburb: Liberty Property Trust has signed a lease with PAE allowing the company to occupy 723,291 square feet of industrial space at 1070 Windham Parkway in Romeoville, Ill.
PAE will occupy the entire Liberty Business Center Windham beginning in May. The company has signed a lease of seven years at the building.
The deal is actually a fairly historic one. PAE is a government services firm that provides support to the U.S. Postal Service. It leased the space in Romeoville as part of its most recent contract award to operate the Chicago Mail Transport Equipment Center. The company will repair and store mail equipment here. With 16.5 acres under one roof, the Chicago Mail Transport Equipment Center in this suburb will rank as the largest in the United States.
This deal is also the largest industrial deal in the Chicago area so far in 2015.
Liberty Property Trust bought the building from Home Depot in 2012. The site has been vacant since 2013, when Home Depot left the property.
It’s not surprising that PAE will choose the site for its operations: Liberty Business Center features visibility on Interstate-55, 150 loading docks, 30-foot clear height and plenty of auto and trailer parking.
