W.E. O’Neil recently topped out The Lincoln Common development after pouring 33,000 cubic yards of concrete to build two 20-story apartment towers, a seven-story office building and several retail core and shell structures in under 12 months. W.E. O’Neil Construction is acting as general contractor on the project, located on the former site of the Children’s Memorial Hospital.
The mixed-use development was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Antunovich Associates. The property is at the intersection of Lincoln, Fullerton and Halsted and will include 538 apartments, 100,000 square feet of dining and retail space, 47,000 square feet of boutique loft office space, 40 for-sale condominiums and a 156-room senior living facility. The Lincoln Common will also provide the community with 67,000-square-feet and more than 1.5 acres of open public and park space.
The transit-oriented project aims to act as a new gateway to the Lincoln Park neighborhood with a diversity of housing options, shops, restaurants, beautiful new parks. The development has already attracted a number of retail tenants, including the recent announcement of a new Kohler Water Spa.
