One of Chicago’s long-awaited retail developments will debut its first two tenants this October.
The Village Market retail center bordering Chicago’s Lakeshore East neighborhood on the New Eastside will open Oct. 4 with the debut of the bi-level Mariano’s Fresh Market. The second anchor tenant, III Forks Steakhouse, has scheduled its grand opening for Oct. 5.
Situated at 333 Benton Place near the southwest corner of the 28-acre Lakeshore East community, Village Market is a four-story, 105,000-square-foot retail development. Magellan Development Group and Hanwha Engineering & Construction are joint-venture development partners on the project.
The Village Market was designed for Silver LEED certification by Loewenberg Architects and built by McHugh Construction.
“We consider Village Market, which includes a variety of shops, restaurants and services, an enormous convenience not only for people living and working at Lakeshore East but also for our residential and commercial neighbors,” said David Carlins, president of Magellan Development Group. “We view this as a significant step forward to achieving our vision of Lakeshore East as a diversified village in the heart of the city.”
