Maison Marcel French Bakery, founded by Chicago restaurateur Xavi De Yparraguirre, will open its second location at the Moment luxury apartment building, 545 N. McClurg Court, in Streeterville. The French café and restaurant has a planned opening in December 2018.
“Maison Marcel will be a destination for Moment residents and all people who live, work or play in Streeterville and the surrounding neighborhoods,” said Michael Newman, principal, president and CEO of Golub & Company, the firm that oversees leasing and management for the building. “The casual, yet stylish atmosphere is an ideal fit for Moment, which features many thoughtfully-designed amenities to help residents relax and rejuvenate.”
Opened in 2016, the 45-story, 490-unit luxury rental tower Moment was designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz to LEED Silver standards. The building offers more than 40,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenities, including a rooftop pool and lounge area with cabanas and grilling stations, fitness and yoga studios, a media theater, business center and bike storage/repair.
The original Maison Marcel location in Lakeview is known for serving fresh organic ingredients sourced from local farms and markets in a welcoming, chic setting. To bring the Streeterville concept to life, De Yparraguirre is collaborating with Jennifer Park from Chicago-based design firm Jurassic Studio, whose inventive design work can be found in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Mexico City.
“Maison Marcel is a family business, and our promise is to have customers feel at home. Maison Marcel is the place where you go to get away from it all, to cuddle up and read your favorite book, to get a bit of work done or to meet friends for happy hour,” said De Yparraguirre. “The staff, music, design and happenings create a relaxing setting for all people to enjoy.”
