Marilyn Lissner

Marilyn Lissner Executive director Cushman & Wakefield Chicago

In an industry still dominated largely by men, Marilyn Lissner ranks as one of the most successful female commercial real estate professionals in Chicago and the entire Midwest.

Executive director with the Chicago office of Cushman & Wakefield, Lissner has thrived during her 32 years in the commercial real estate business. And in the last 25 years, she’s helped build the Chicago office of Cushman & Wakefield into one of the most successful commercial brokerages in that city.

Lissner’s success can be credited to an old-fashioned, but effective, formula. She outworks her competitors. She also knows the commercial real estate market as well as anyone in the industry. And when it comes to serving clients, no one is better than Lissner.

Her peers have noticed. During her long and successful career, Lissner has won more than 20 industry awards. That’s an impressive feat. And many of these awards were among the top honors in the real estate industry.

Lissner, for instance, has won Cushman & Wakefield’s prestigious Service Excellence Award and, most recently, the 2011 Illinois Real Estate Journal-Career Achievement Award. That last award is given out each year by Midwest Real Estate News’ sister publication to women who have continually served as achievers and leaders in the commercial real estate industry.

Lissner has also won multiple awards from NAIOP and the Greater Chicago Food Depository Award.

This industry veteran hasn’t been shy about volunteering her time to the commercial real estate industry, either. Her active real estate memberships include CREW, of which Lissner has served as a founder, board member and past president; CoreNet; and COLBA.

Lissner has been equally willing to devote time to her community outside of commercial real estate. For six years, she served in the Girl Scout Camp CEO Leadership Program. She has also been active with the Executive Club, Interational Women’s Forum and the Chicago Network.
