MB Real Estate announced that Michael Smolen has been selected to serve as a senior project manager for the Chicago-based real estate firm’s Project Services division.
Smolen has more than 26 years of experience in construction project management and will oversee construction assignments for the firm’s entire asset management portfolio.
During his career, Smolen has served as lead project manager for a number of high-profile clients across the country, including retail build-outs for AAA, the Ritz Carlton, and Chipotle, renovations for McDonald’s and more than 50-plus Starbucks locations, as well as a 90,000-square-foot ground-up development for Aramark Uniform Services.
Prior to Smolen’s move to MBRE, he served as Director of Design and Construction for Tishman Speyer and AmTrust Realty Corp. At both firms, he oversaw property managers, consultants, and contractors, managing architectural, engineering, and construction activity from initial design stage to close-out for approximately 6 million square feet of Class A and B commercial buildings in Chicago’s downtown area.
