MC Machinery Systems, and its parent company Mitsubishi Corporation, hosted an opening ceremony for the company’s new headquarters in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
The ceremony featured an special tradition called Kagami-Biraki, which involves the lid of a large sake barrel getting broken by a wooden mallet. Afterwards, executives shared a drink from the sake barrel as a symbol of harmony. The all-day event was attended by more than 1,000 customers and vendors who enjoyed educational seminars, a go-kart track, beer garden, food trucks, sit-down dinner and live band.
The new headquarters, a 176,000-square-foot build-to-suit facility in the Northwest Point Business Center in Elk Grove Village, is now home to MC Machinery’s 175 employees. Formerly in neighboring Woodale, Illinois, MC Machinery began an exhaustive market search in late 2014 when the company exclusively retained Newmark Knight Frank’s Brian Carroll, executive managing director, and Tom Gath, managing director, to partner and advise in the firm’s search.
An 11.9 acre site fronting I-90 in the Northwest Point Business Center was the final selection and was subsequently purchased by MC Machinery. Heitman Architects and the Opus Group, general contractors, were chosen. NKF’s Project Management group provided construction management services.
The new facility includes 50,000 square feet of two-story office, a 50,000-square-foot demostration/showroom, and the remaining space planned as production warehouse, 3D imaging, call center plus six docks and 220 car parking spaces.
