McDonald’s corporation is reportedly set to sell one of its Oak Brook office properties to Hines. The Houston-based developer will tear down the existing, 1972-built office building and erect a multi-tower mixed-use project.
Located at 2111 McDonald Drive, the property is just east of the Oakbrook Center mall and north of the 74-acre former McDonald’s main Oak Brook campus. The fast food giant recently moved into new headquarters in Chicago’s West Loop. JLL represented McDonald’s in the sale.
Hines plans to create a “new village center,” according to a statement by Hines senior managing director Greg Van Schaack. The plans call for a residential, office, hotel and retail uses on the site. With close access to the Reagan Memorial Tollway, the property is highly visible to commuters. The deal is contingent on Hines receiving zoning approval from Oak Brook.
