McShane Construction Co. has been selected to complete a 32,150-square-foot Rockford Veterans Affairs Community-Based Outpatient Clinic on behalf of developer W.D. Schorsch Real Estate. The new single-story medical facility will be located on a 3.9-acre site at Featherstone Drive and Mulford Avenue in Rockford, Illinois. 
Groundbreaking for the new clinic will take place in Spring 2011 with completion scheduled for early 2012.
The outpatient clinic will be designed and constructed to LEED-Silver standards and will include sustainable features such as a geothermal heating and cooling system and abundant natural light within the expansive lobby and common areas. These features will provide an overall energy savings of 40 percent when compared to traditionally constructed facilities of similar size and scope.
An existing VA clinic located in Rockford will relocate to the new larger Rockford Veterans Affairs Community-Based Outpatient Clinic.
Marasco & Associates, Inc. is providing the architectural services for this extensive medical facility assignment.
