Meridian Design Build recently completed construction on a 100,560-square-foot build-to-suit within Abbott Land & Investment’s Blue Heron Business Park in Bartlett, Illinois.
The new building is the headquarters for the Americas for Cathay Industries and serves as a major distribution hub for the Midwestern region of the U.S. for the company. Cathay Industries is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of iron oxide pigments with locations in the U.S., China, Europe, Australia and Africa.
Meridian completed the project on a design/build basis with Harris Architects providing architectural and structural design services and Mackie Consultants handling the civil engineering design.
“We very much enjoyed working with Cathay Industries, Abbott Land & Investment and the village of Bartlett on this project,” said Meridian Design Build executive vice president, Howard Green. “We wish Cathay continued growth and success in their new location.”
The 30-foot clear building features eight loading docks, two drive-in doors, 70 auto parking spaces and 4,000 square feet of corporate office space. The building is the fourth facility to be constructed within Blue Heron Business Park. Additional development opportunities within the 6.79-acre site, including several sites zoned to accommodate outside storage, are available for sale or lease.
