Meridian Design Build recently completed construction work for a 236,273-square-foot distribution center for Johnstone Supply in Joliet. Improvements to the existing facility located at 3500 Corporate Drive were completed on a fast-track basis one month ahead of schedule.
Significant improvements were completed to accommodate the tenant’s requirements including installation of T-5 warehouse lighting, construction of a hazardous materials storage area, reconfiguration/expansion of office and shipping office space, and installation/reconfiguration of loading docks to accommodate a single-loaded operation. The new facility, Johnstone Supply’s first distribution center in Illinois, will offer same-day deliveries to its 60-plus retail stores throughout the Midwest.
Johnstone Supply is occupying the facility under a long-term lease with STRS Ohio. Walter Murphy of Lee & Associates represented the landlord and Steven Tick of Podolsky Northstar CORFAC International represented Johnstone Supply in the transaction. Paris Arnold with Lee & Associates Asset Management Group worked closely with the tenant to specify and coordinate improvements necessary to meet their needs.
Bob Kolcz, senior project manager, and John Tomasetti, superintendent, coordinated construction efforts for Meridian. Architectural services were provided by A + M Architects.
