Meridian Design Build recently started construction on a 75,000-square-foot build-to-suit facility for Banner Wholesle Grocers on a 4.25-acre site in Chicago.
The new facility is located a redevelopment site at 2639 S. Damen Ave.
The 36-foot clear building features LED lighting, a fully air-conditioned wholesale floor, high cube freezer and cooler space, eight loading docks and a covered van platform with 16 loading positions. Site preparations included the installation of more than 800 aggregate piers to provide support for the building foundations and floors.
Schmidt Design is providing architectural services, while the civil engineering work is being completed by Kimley-Horn. Baker Development Corp. is acting as owner’s agent.
