Meridian Design Build recently started work on the renovation of an existing 147,006-square-foot industrial building in Wheeling to accommodate a state-of-the-art sorting and distribution center. The facility, being developed by Scannell Properties, is located near the Chicago Executive Airport.
The new home delivery facility will include a 139,693-square-foot package sortation/distribution center and 7,300 square feet of office space. Site modifications will be made to accommodate 23 exterior trailer positions, 34 van storage positions and a 129 car employee parking lot. Six new loading docks and five additional drive-in doors will be provided to accommodate the operation of the new facility.
The project is being completed on a design/build basis. Architectural services are being provided by Cornerstone Architects Ltd. and civil engineering work is being completed by Spaceco Inc.
