Michael Wolken Senior vice president NAI DESCO St. Louis

How respected is Michael Wolken in the St. Louis real estate community? Consider this comment from one of his nominators: “Mike is a pillar of St. Louis.”

What has this senior vice president with St. Louis-based NAI DESCO done to earn such praise? He’s closed some of the biggest deals in the St. Louis area. And he’s done it while contributing his time to the St. Louis business and philanthropic communities.

In fact, his volunteer work alone would feel like a full-time job to most other commercial professionals.

Wolken has built a thriving commercial real estate business during his 37-year career, during which time he has both worked for several local brokerages and run his own commercial firm. His impressive client list speaks volume about his success in the business.

Big names on this list includ Hewlett-Packard, General Electric, Ameren UE, Duetsche Financial, Brinker International and LaBarge, Inc.

Wolken has kept these impressive clients by always exceeding their expectations. His market knowledge and hard work help, too, as Wolken always makes sure that his clients receive the best deals possible.

Wolken’s peers have been quick to recognize this commercial pro’s talents. The St. Louis Association of Realtors, as an example, has honored him as its Commercial Realtor of the Year.

Wolken has earned praise, too, for his volunteer efforts, with Big Brothers Big Sisters having named him Volunteer of the Year.

Today, Wolken is heavily involved in the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors, where he is a past chapter president; Missouri Real Estate Commission, a commission that he once served as chairman; St. Louis Association of Realtors — he’s a founding member and past president of this group — and the Archdiocese of St. Louis, where he is a member of the properties and finance committee.

Wolken is a former volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and was a foster parent for 15 years with Catholic Services for Children and Youth.
