California-based Harbor Freight Tools recently signed a lease for 20,000 square feet of space at Bricktown Square in Chicago, according to Richard Spinell, principal of Mid-America Asset Management Inc., the Oakbrook Terrace-based firm representing the center. The tool retailer held the grand opening of its first urban Chicago store on June 13.
Mid-America Vice President Mary Beth Menelli-Iveljic and Senior Leasing Representative Jaime Platt represented the landlord in the lease, while Branson Edwards of Grubb & Ellis represented the tenant.
Founded in 1977, Harbor Freight Tools has more than 400 stores, with six in the Chicago area.
The 277,489-square-foot Bricktown Square is located at the northwest corner of Fullerton and Narragansett avenues in Chicago. Anchors include Babies ‘R’ Us, Sports Authority and XSport Fitness, with area tenants including Target, Loews, Jewel/Osco and Office Depot.
