Each year, Midwest Real Estate News runs its Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame edition, featuring the most successful CRE pros in the region. This year, we are running those profiles online, too. This week, we feature Kevin Dillon, senior managing director of the Southfield, Michigan, office of Berkadia.
Years in the business: 33
A top producer: During his more than three decades in the commercial real estate business, Berkadia’s Kevin Dillon has generated more than $2.3 billion in sales. This includes more than $335 million in sales in 2017 alone.
The not-so-secret formula: Why has Dillon been so successful? He points to his commitment to the industry and his persistence.
“My persistence in staying focused and specializing in the multifamily space, the utilization of intellectual capital around me and my desire to please and serve my clients” are what have led Dillon to the top of his field.
A sought-after speaker: Given this level of production, it’s far from surprising that Dillon is in demand as a speaker at industry functions. For example, Dillon has served as a speaker for the Apartment Association of Michigan’s Annual Economic Forecast from 2008 to 2017.
The perfect career: Dillon is one of the fortunate few: He’s found a career that is not only perfectly suited to his talents but is one that he truly enjoys.
What does Dillon enjoy about commercial real estate? “The sophistication, high energy and fast pace of the business,” he said.
The honors: Dillon has also earned several key industry honors during his long and successful career. He has been recognized as one of the top three national advisors by Berkadia from 2015 through 2017 and as a top-five national advisor with the company in 2013 and 2014. From 2010 through 2017, Dillon has been named a CoStar Power Broker.
Serving his industry: Dillon finds time, despite his busy career, to serve his industry. He sits on the board of directors of the Apartment Association of Michigan and is a member of the Real Estate Answer Forum, Urban Land Institute and National Multifamily Housing Council.
Out-of-office hours: When not working, Dillon spends as much time as he can with his family members and friends. He’s also a fan of golfing and skiing.
