Each year, Midwest Real Estate News inducts a new class into its Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame. Last year was no exception. Here is a look at one of our newest Hall of Fame members, William Glasgow, senior vice president with the Kansas City, Missouri, office of Block & Company, Inc., Realtors.
William Glasgow has been in the commercial real estate industry for more than 30 years. He joined Block & Company, Inc., Realtors in 2006, where he currently serves as the senior vice president.
Prior to joining Block & Company, Glasgow was vice president of leasing, specializing in retail/restaurant properties with the Swearingen Company in Dallas, Texas, leasing and selling office buildings. He then went on to start Glasgow & Company Real Estate Services.
What does Glasgow like most about commercial real estate?
“The opportunity to be creative in marketing commercial real estate,” said Glasgow. “However, the greatest experience is finding a site and seeing the facility going from conception to completion.”
Glasgow attended college at Central Missouri State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in marketing with an emphasis in real estate. Glasgow’s expertise is in the leasing and selling of commercial properties. He has represented numerous property owners and national clients in his career.
The keys, Glasgow has found, to finding success in commercial real estate are education and experience. “The most important thing,” Glasgow said, “is planning your success and following your plan.”
He has been one of the top producers in eastern Jackson County, Missouri for the past 20 years. Glasgow `is a licensed broker in the states of Missouri and Kansas. He is a long-time member of the National Association of Realtors, Missouri Association of Realtors and the Metropolitan Kansas City Board of Realtors.
When he is away from the office and not working in commercial real estate, Glasgow is most at peace out on his boat.
“I love spending time on the water and sleeping in my 50-foot cruiser when you can hear the rain hit the boat cover,” said Glasgow, “and you can see the storms coming in and going out.”
