Where are apartment rents rising the fastest? According to apartment Web site Abodo, Milwaukee led the way, seeing the biggest increase in one-bedroom apartment rents from June to July of this year.
Apartment rents for one-bedroom apartments in the Wisconsin city jumped 15 percent from June to July, increasing from an average of $880 to $1,010, according to Abodo.
Another Midwest city saw the second-highest increase in rents during this same period, Columbus. Abodo reported that one-bedroom rents jumped 13 percent from June to July in Columbus, increasing from an average of $761 to $857.
A third Midwest city, Omaha, also made Abodo’s list. Rents here increased an average of 8 percent from June to July, rising from $710 to $765.
Only one Midwest city made Abodo’s list of metropolitan areas in which average rents fell by the most from June to July. Kansas City, Missouri, saw its average one-bedroom rents fall by 4 percent.
