Milwaukee’s Kahler Slater, a global architecture, interior design and environmental branding firm, has added Dr. Manuel Hernandez to the firm as Principal, Strategic Innovation/Co-Practice Leader for the Healthcare Team.
Hernandez has struck a professional balance as a practicing physician, innovator and design professional. He was honored by Healthcare Design Magazine in 2017 as one of its annual 10 most influential people advancing healthcare design and, as a practicing physician, has been recognized for patient satisfaction scores that exceed the 99th percentile.
Hernandez is one of the few healthcare designers who remains clinically active, providing him with insights and empathy regarding the challenges facing healthcare, patients and providers. He is an assistant professor of emergency medicine at Penn State Health/Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and an attending physician at the University of Florida Health in Jacksonville.
Before joining Kahler Slater, Hernandez was a health market and former advisory services leader with CannonDesign, where he provided insight on healthcare strategy, operations, consumer experiences and facility solutions.
