Minneapolis’ Northmarq hires chief marketing officer

JoAnn Neau

Northmarq has hired JoAnn Neau, a 25-year marketing leader, as the company’s first chief marketing officer.

Neau comes to Northmarq from Thrivent, where she led digital and marketing operations strategies.

Neau brings more than 25 years of financial services experience leading marketing, communications, branding, digital marketing and customer experience for Fortune 500 financial services organizations. Prior to her time with Thrivent, Neau held several significant leadership roles with Wells Fargo /Abbot Downing, RBC Wealth Management, U.S. Bancorp and Securian Financial.

At Wells Fargo’s Abbot Downing business, she led marketing strategies that drove sales revenue, enhanced the client experience and increased brand awareness for ultra-high net worth investors. At RBC Wealth Management, she was responsible for leading the marketing and communications strategy for the U.S. wealth management business and headed digital marketing and innovation strategies for the investment businesses globally.

Outside of her professional roles, Neau has a personal passion for education. She helped charter a non-profit and served as founding board chair for St. Croix Preparatory Academy Foundation, and previously served on the board of trustees for the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association’s Securities Industry Institute at the Wharton School.

In addition, she served as Board Chair of Project SUCCESS, a non-profit focused on enriching the educational experiences of over 15,000 Minneapolis students in 22 public schools, and on the Board of Directors for Meet Minneapolis, the non-profit organization with a mission to drive economic and social prosperity of the city by attracting visitors, conventions and events.

Neau attained her M.B.A. and Bachelor of Science in Business from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
